Munich Bureaucracy Tips
14-Day Anmeldung Deadline
Register your address (Anmeldung) within 14 days of moving in. Late registration can result in fines at KVR.
Book Appointments Early
KVR and Ausländerbehörde appointments book out 3 to 6 weeks in advance. Book immediately, even if your deadline feels far away.
Always Bring Originals and Copies
German offices require original documents and photocopies of everything. Prepare a complete document folder before any appointment.
Extend Permits 6 Weeks Early
Start your residence permit extension at least 6 weeks before expiry. Processing takes 4 to 8 weeks and you cannot let it lapse.
