These Terms govern your use of the website at atlasmunich.de together with all of its subpages, content, downloads and AI assistants, referred to here as the service. The provider is the operator identified below, referred to as we or us. You are referred to as you or the user.

By accessing or using the service you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service. No account is created, no fee is charged and no separate declaration is required: use itself is acceptance.

Terms of your own do not become part of this agreement, even if we do not expressly object to them.

Where you use the service as a consumer within the meaning of section 13 of the German Civil Code, mandatory consumer protection provisions apply in your favour and take precedence over anything here that would be less favourable to you.

These Terms are made available in several languages for convenience. In the event of a contradiction, the English version governs, without prejudice to any mandatory rule that requires another language in your favour.

Atlas Munich collects practical information about arriving and living in Munich: guides, frequently asked questions, a directory of places, and AI assistants that answer questions about that material. It is an information service. It is not an agency, a broker, a public authority, a legal or tax adviser, a housing platform or an official source of any kind, and no relationship of advice, agency or representation arises between us.

The service is provided free of charge and voluntarily. We may change, extend, restrict or discontinue features, content or the service as a whole at any time, and we are not obliged to keep any particular guide, listing or assistant available.

We owe you no particular level of availability. Maintenance, deployments, provider outages, attacks and events of force majeure can interrupt the service. We aim for reasonable continuity but give no uptime guarantee and no service level commitment.

The service hosts no user accounts. Conversations with the assistants are saved only in your own browser's local storage, never on our servers, so clearing your browser's site data or switching devices starts you fresh. Anything you want to keep beyond that, please keep yourself.

You may use the service for personal, informational purposes and to help others do the same. You may quote it with attribution and link to it freely. Beyond that, you agree not to do any of the following.

• Break the law, infringe the rights of others, or use the service to prepare or carry out unlawful acts.
• Submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, harassing, sexually exploitative or violent, or that promotes such acts.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, its hosting environment, its accounts or any connected system, or probe, scan or test its security without our prior written permission.
• Interfere with or overload the service, including denial of service attempts, automated request flooding, circumventing rate limits or evading technical restrictions.
• Scrape, harvest or systematically extract content at scale, or use automated agents to do so, except for reasonable and well behaved indexing by public search engines.
• Use the assistants to generate unlawful content, to extract the system instructions, to bypass safety measures, or to route the endpoint into another product of your own.
• Introduce malware or any code intended to damage, disable or impair the service.
• Present the service or its output as your own official, professional or authoritative advice, or use our name, logo or branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation.
• Enter another person's personal data into an assistant without a lawful basis for doing so.

Requests to the assistant endpoint are rate limited. Where your use is abusive, harmful to others, or a threat to the stability or security of the service, we may block access, technically or otherwise, temporarily or permanently, and without prior notice. Where conduct suggests a criminal offence, we may report it to the competent authorities.

If content on the service appears to you to be illegal, tell us at hamza.chaouki@tum.de with its location and the reason. We assess such reports and remove or disable content that we find unlawful, and we inform you of the outcome where you have given us a way to reply.

The assistants generate text statistically. They can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or internally inconsistent, and they can produce a fluent answer that is simply false. They have no access to your file, your case, any authority's system or any live database, and they cannot tell you what a public office will decide.

• Verify anything that matters with the official source before acting on it, in particular anything touching visas, residence, registration, health insurance, taxes, employment, tenancy or money.
• Do not enter passwords, identity or residence document numbers, bank details, health data or another person's personal data.
• Do not use the output as legal, medical, tax or financial advice, and do not present it to third parties as such.
• Do not use the assistants in any way prohibited by the usage policies of the underlying AI provider, since those restrictions pass through to you.

We claim no ownership of the answers generated for you. Similar or identical output may be generated for other users, so answers are not exclusive to you and may not be protectable. You are responsible for how you use output, including for checking it against the rights of third parties before republishing it.

The assistant is not an emergency service. In a medical emergency call 112. For the police call 110. For crisis support, use the local services listed in our guides.

Content is prepared with care by volunteers, from public sources and lived experience. Rules, fees, deadlines, opening hours and contact points nevertheless change frequently and without notice. We do not warrant that any content is accurate, current or complete, and we do not undertake to keep it updated.

Nothing on the service constitutes legal advice within the meaning of the German Legal Services Act, nor tax, immigration, medical or financial advice, and no advisory contract arises. Where a matter is important, consult a qualified professional or the competent authority.

The directory of places, businesses and services is informational. A listing implies no endorsement, no certification, and no statement about halal status, quality, price, licensing or suitability, and we have no relationship with the operators unless we say so expressly. Please verify anything that matters to you directly with them.

The service contains links to external websites. Those sites lie outside our control and we adopt no responsibility for their content. At the time of linking we found no indication of unlawful content, and we remove links promptly once we learn of an infringement. Liability for linked content rests with its own provider under sections 7 to 10 of the German Digital Services Act.

If you send us corrections, suggestions or other feedback, you grant us a free, non-exclusive, transferable, worldwide and perpetual right to use, adapt and publish it as part of the service, and you confirm that you are entitled to grant that right. We owe you no payment and no attribution for feedback, although we are usually glad to give credit.

The source code of Atlas Munich is published under the MIT licence in our public repository at github.com/HamzaChx/Atlas-Munich. Your rights in the code follow from that licence, and the licence text prevails over this section as far as the code is concerned.

Editorial content, layout, graphics, the brand name, the logo and the other design elements are protected by copyright and related rights and are not covered by the code licence. You may quote extracts with a clear source reference and a link, and you may share links freely. Systematic copying, republication of a substantial part, and commercial reuse require our prior written permission.

Third party components keep their own licences and attributions, including the icon set, the fonts, the mapping library, the map tiles and the underlying map data. Map data is copyright OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database License, and the base map styling is provided by CARTO. Where a licence requires attribution, it is shown in the interface and must not be removed.

The names, marks and logos of third parties appearing on the service belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively, without any claim of affiliation or endorsement.

If you believe that content on the service infringes your rights, write to hamza.chaouki@tum.de with the material concerned, the right you hold and evidence of your ownership. We investigate promptly and remove infringing material.

The service is made available free of charge, as is and as available. To the extent permitted by law, and consistent with the privileged liability of a gratuitous provider under sections 521 and 599 of the German Civil Code, we give no warranty as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or freedom from errors or harmful code.

We are liable without limitation for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, for intent and gross negligence, under the German Product Liability Act, and where we have given a guarantee or fraudulently concealed a defect.

In cases of slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation, meaning an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of this agreement possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely. In that case liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for an agreement of this kind.

Any further liability is excluded. In particular we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit or loss of data, nor for decisions you take on the basis of content or AI output, nor for costs, penalties, missed deadlines or applications refused by third parties or by authorities.

The limitations above apply equally in favour of our legal representatives, employees and volunteers, and they apply to claims in tort as well as in contract. They do not apply where liability is mandatory by law.

We are not responsible for events beyond our reasonable control, including internet or hosting failures, provider outages, cyber attacks, industrial action, epidemics and acts of public authorities.

You are responsible for your own use of the service. If a third party brings a claim against us because of your unlawful use, you will indemnify us against that claim and against the reasonable costs of legal defence, unless you are not responsible for the breach.

You may stop using the service at any time. No notice is needed and there is nothing to cancel.

We may block your access, remove content, or discontinue the service in whole or in part where you breach these Terms, where the security or stability of the service requires it, or where we decide to stop operating the project. Where an interruption is not urgent, we give reasonable notice.

Provisions which by their nature are intended to survive, in particular those on intellectual property, liability, indemnity and governing law, remain in force after your use ends.

We may amend these Terms where a change in the service, in our providers, in case law or in the applicable law makes it necessary, or in order to correct an error or an ambiguity. The version and the date shown at the top of this page identify the text currently in force.

Changes are published here before they take effect wherever that is practicable. Because the service is used without an account and without a continuing contractual relationship, the version in force at the time you use the service applies to that use. If you do not accept an amended version, your remedy is to stop using the service.

Amendments will never be used to reduce your mandatory statutory rights. Earlier versions remain visible in the history of the public source repository at github.com/HamzaChx/Atlas-Munich.

These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of them are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and excluding its conflict of law rules.

If you are a consumer habitually resident in another state of the European Union, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, known as Rome I.

Where you are a merchant, a legal person under public law or a special fund under public law, or where you have no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Munich. Consumers may sue and be sued at the courts designated by the applicable procedural rules, in particular Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012.

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board within the meaning of the German Act on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Consumer Matters. Contacting us directly is usually faster: we read every message and try to settle complaints informally.

Should any provision of these Terms be or become invalid or unenforceable, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected. The invalid provision is replaced by the applicable statutory rule.
